14 Proven Steps For Identifying Your True Purpose In Life

14 Proven Steps For Identifying Your True Purpose In Life

  1. Our purpose in life is already in us today.  Right where you are whoever you are.  If you believe and have faith that you indeed have a soul, then you can be certain that you have a purpose in life, and your journey is to identify your very specific purpose as soon as possible.  Only then, you can become truly significant and experience self-actualization.

  2. We must emotionally and intelligently understand why God created us in the first place.

  3. We must emotionally and intelligently understand (personally, spiritually, and professionally) that our mind, body, and spirit are gifts from God, and how we chose to use those gifts or abuse those gifts is our gift back to God.

  4. We must emotionally and intellectually understand (personally, spiritually, and professionally) that our ultimate goal is to serve God, and that only Love can win. So if you are a plumber, care-giver, or a wall street stock broker, you are equally gifted with a purpose, for Gods’ purpose.

  5. You must start by digging deep into your heart and soul, and list all of thing that you have experienced that have brought you significant emotional pain or significant emotional pleasure.

  6. You must write a clear and compelling reason, why you feel the way you do.

  7. From all of the significant emotional pleasures you have experienced, what would be the experiences that you would want to help others have, that would significantly change their life forever?

  8. From all of the significant emotional pains you have experience, what would be the experiences that you would want to help others avoid or recover from,  that would significantly change their life forever?

  9. Out of that simple exercise (one of many) what do you feel passionate about that,  what gets you fired up to make a difference that matters. How can you directly or indirectly take on the cause regardless if you are a plumber, care-giver, or a wall street stock broker etc..

  10. You must be willing to do what ever it takes! Do you need to move, do you need to go back to school, do you need more training, and do you need to stop bad habits and unhealthy lifestyles first? Your reason “WHY” you want to identify your purpose, must be greater than all of the excuses compounded as to why not.

  11. Your Purpose is beyond, the secular expectations of high school, college, marriage, kids, career, and retirement; all of those things are great and a common part of life and are expected of you today, however, they are not your sole purpose in life.

  12. It is a great idea to seek a mentor, best friend, career counselor, teacher, life coach, pastor, or spiritual leader that are clearly living their life on purpose.  Develop an accountability relationship with one of them so that you are always actively engaged in the process, and are being held accountable to all of your actions.

  13. Do your homework, read a variety of books, that are very specific to helping people identify their purpose in Life, Authors such as: Rick Warren, Tony, Robbins, Jack Canfield, and yes, me, Jon Hartman.

  14. Pray daily and even multiple times!  Give thanks, have gratitude, ask for wisdom, and ask for favor! and be utmost sincere in your desire to serve.
